A CROSS-ATLANTIC PARTNERSHIP
Round
Over 20 years ago, American venture capitalists and entrepreneurs, Jon Flint and Terry McGuire, found themselves in Iceland quite a lot. As founders of the venture capital firm Polaris Partners, they had made an investment in Iceland and were quickly becoming very fond of the country. Through their travels in the land of fire and ice, they fell in love with Iceland’s heritage food: Skyr. It was thicker, creamier, had less sugar, and was more protein-filled than the yogurt they were used to back in the States. They loved that it sustained them through their morning workouts, their business meetings, and their adventures of exploring Iceland’s dramatic landscapes (skyr was what sustained the Vikings too!). They ate a lot of Skyr -- for breakfast, lunch, and throughout the day -- and were convinced they needed to bring it to the US. No imitation would do, though; it had to be the original, authentic Icelandic recipe with the Icelandic heirloom cultures.

In 2013, together with their partner in Polaris Founders Capital, Gregg Rubin, they formed a partnership with MS Iceland Dairies, the oldest and largest dairy cooperative in Iceland. MS Dairies has been crafting Skyr since 1929; they are the Skyr Masters that hold the exclusive rights to the heirloom skyr cultures and the original recipe that is so beloved across Iceland. From that partnership, a new brand was born: Icelandic Provisions.
Round
As a result of this partnership, Icelandic Provisions is the only authentic Icelandic Skyr brand in the United States that uses heirloom Icelandic Skyr cultures and a recipe that dates back thousands of years.

Under the mentorship of MS Iceland’s Skyr Masters, Icelandic Provisions ensures every cup of Skyr is made the Icelandic way: Thick, creamy and delicious.
